RESIDENCE PERMIT HELP IN POLAND

Residence permit help in Poland: work, MOS and support through your case

A Polish residence or work case often needs careful preparation, an employer’s cooperation and follow-up with the voivodeship office. IRYS helps you organise the process and stay with it through the decision and residence-card stage, within the agreed scope of service.

Residence permitsWork and employer documentsMOS applications

Your first decision is which residence basis fits your circumstances and what kind of support you need. A routine application, a refusal and a court dispute require different work.

THE SHORT ANSWER

What kind of help do you need?

For a standard residence or work permit case, the main tasks are checking the correct basis, preparing consistent documents, coordinating the employer’s annex, submitting through MOS and answering the office’s requests. For a refusal, appeal or court dispute, you may also need advice or representation from a qualified legal professional. The two situations should not be treated as the same service.

People searching for an “immigration lawyer in Poland” may be looking for either kind of help. IRYS assesses the practical route, prepares the agreed documents and accompanies clients through the administrative process. If a case calls for regulated legal representation, ask who will provide it and on what terms.

START WITH THE BASIS

Which residence route fits your situation?

01

Working in Poland

A temporary residence and work permit may be appropriate when your job is the main reason for a stay longer than three months. Your employment details and the employer’s electronic Annex No. 1 matter.

02

Joining family

Family cases depend on the relationship, the family member’s status and whether the applicant is already in Poland. Some applications for relatives outside Poland follow a paper route rather than MOS.

03

Another long-term plan

Permanent residence, long-term EU residence, study and business are separate legal bases. A card already in your wallet does not automatically tell you which work rights or next application you have.

The permit is the legal decision; the karta pobytu is the physical residence card issued after a positive decision and the required formalities. The right to work depends on the person’s legal basis and the terms of the decision, not on the plastic card alone.

CURRENT PROCEDURE · 2026

How a standard residence application works now

Since 27 April 2026, standard applications for temporary residence, permanent residence and long-term EU residence are submitted electronically through the official MOS portal. The applicant logs in personally via login.gov.pl and signs the application using an accepted electronic signature. Do not give anyone your login credentials. Certain special categories, including some family applications where the person concerned is abroad, remain on the paper route.

  1. Check the legal basis and timing.Review your current stay, expiry date, purpose of stay and the documents that support it. Start before the final day of legal stay.
  2. Prepare your file.MOS requires a digital photo, images of passport pages, payment evidence and documents relevant to the chosen basis. The detailed list depends on the case.
  3. Coordinate the employer’s annex, if applying through work. The employer receives a link to Annex No. 1, completes it and signs it electronically. The work application cannot be submitted until that step is finished.
  4. Submit and keep confirmation. The applicant signs and sends the application in MOS and can save its PDF, XML and official receipt (UPO).
  5. Follow the case after submission. The voivodeship office may invite you to provide fingerprints, show the original passport and supplement documents. A decision comes from the competent authority; a positive decision is followed by card-issue formalities.

A representative can help prepare the case, but the applicant’s personal MOS login and signature remain personal steps. IRYS cannot promise an approval or a fixed decision date.

WHERE CASES OFTEN GET STUCK

Three checks before you press “submit”

01

Employer details match

Compare the job title, salary, hours and contract with the electronic annex. An inconsistency can lead to questions or requests for corrections.

02

The right status and route

A work-based application is not a universal solution. Prior residence, family ties, studies and current work rights can change the best route.

03

You can respond later

Keep access to MOS, your contact details and the office’s messages. Submission is the beginning of the procedure, not its finish.

HOW IRYS WORKS

We take the paperwork off your shoulders and stay with the case

We begin with your status and goal, identify a possible route and agree on the work to be done. Depending on the case, we prepare the application and supporting documents, coordinate with the employer, check the file before submission and help respond to the office after filing. We work from our office in Stargard with clients across Poland; some steps still require your personal participation.

COMMON QUESTIONS

Frequently asked questions

Do I need an immigration lawyer to apply for a Polish residence permit?

Not every application requires a lawyer. Many people apply themselves or use practical help with documents and procedure. A refusal, appeal or court case may call for advice or representation from an appropriately qualified professional.

Can IRYS submit the MOS application using my login?

No. The applicant logs in personally through login.gov.pl and signs the application using an accepted electronic signature. IRYS can help prepare and check the information within the agreed service.

Does a karta pobytu automatically allow me to work?

No. Work rights depend on the type of permit, the decision and any other legal exemption that applies to you. Check the specific basis before changing jobs or employers.

What if my employer has not signed Annex No. 1?

For a standard temporary residence and work application, MOS cannot receive the completed application until the employer fills and electronically signs the annex. Agree on that step with the employer early.

Is the application finished when I receive the UPO?

No. The UPO confirms electronic submission. The office may later request fingerprints, originals or further documents before deciding the case.

Can IRYS help if I live outside Stargard?

Yes. IRYS works with clients across Poland. The exact scope of remote work depends on your case and on steps that require your personal presence.
